Job Summary:
The Technical Manager with a focus on Solar Design manages and leads a team of engineers and designers to ensure high-quality and cost-effective design solutions for projects. They oversee technical aspects of solar design, including site assessments, energy modeling, system sizing, equipment selection, and electrical and structural design. They collaborate with cross-functional teams and maintain project budgets, schedules, and timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead a team of solar designers and engineers to ensure high-quality, cost-effective design solutions for rojects.
- Develop and oversee the technical aspects of PV solar project designs, including site assessments, energy modeling, system sizing, equipment selection, and electrical and structural design.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, project management, and construction, to ensure seamless project execution.
- Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, and timelines.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, regulations, and standards.
- Oversee the preparation of engineering drawings, technical specifications, and construction documents.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of equipment and materials.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, with a focus on solar, electrical, or mechanical engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in solar design and project management, with a focus on PV solar systems.
- Strong technical skills in solar design, including site assessment, energy modeling, system sizing, equipment selection, and electrical and structural design.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects
- simultaneously and deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team of engineers and designers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of solar energy systems, electrical systems, regulations, and standards.
- Proficient in solar design software, such as PVsyst, AutoCAD, or similar tools.
- A professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in the solar PV industry, with a focus on business development and sales
Working Conditions:
Most of the work will be office-based, you may occasionally need to visit project sites for site assessments, measurements, or to resolve design-related issues. These site visits may involve travel and working in outdoor environments.
